Dr. Elizabeth King, LCSW, CHt also known as “The Holistic Psychotherapist” is an internationally recognized wellness expert, hypnotherapist, radio-TV personality, motivational speaker, professor, coach and author. She is also an adjunct professor at Nova Southeastern University. She is regarded by her peers as a leader and a visionary.
Dr. King is the Chief Inspiration Officer(CIO) and founder of Suits, Stilettos and Lipstick, International Holistic Center and DRK Global Enterprises. She also founded the Lipstick Foundation, a 501 c3 nonprofit organization. Although all four companies have distinct missions, they all work hand and hand to deliver the same message of hope and empowerment.
Dr. King’s professional background includes over 20 years as an educator, family counselor, social worker and administrator with the Broward County Public Schools. Within her tenure in the school system she touched thousands of children’s lives. Dr. King passionately advocated for quality education and programs for at-risk students in Tallahassee and Washington DC; She fought for funding for dropout prevention programs; She championed school-wide initiatives that addressed diversity and inclusion. Although Dr. King left the school system almost 10 years ago because of health issues, she continues to give back to underprivileged children and their families through her foundation and volunteering.
Dr. King opened up the International Holistic Center in 2007 because holistic therapies helped her to get back on her feet after being bedridden for 2 years. She was determined to share her knowledge to help others.
In 2012, Dr. King launched Suits, Stilettos and Lipstick® (SSL) because she saw in her clinical practice so many professional women suffering from stress related illnesses. She wanted to create a women’s conference that would offer women the tools to build their psycho-emotional and spiritual self as well as their businesses and careers. She knew that to be able to reach women at a deeper level the conference had to be educational, inspirational and practical. Dr. King and her partner in crime, Yvonne Haase, accomplished that and more. To their delight, the doors opened up at the Ritz Carlton Fort Lauderdale for the first conference with over 250 women.
What started off as just a dream to create a women’s conference has rapidly become a women’s movement with a database of over 4,000 women and growing. Last year SSL celebrated their 4th annual conference with over 350 women in attendance. It also became a membership organization and launched its national expansion. SASSY Communities opened up in W. Palm Beach, Miami and Chicago. SSL plans on launching SASSY Communities in every major city in the US and overseas in the near future. Also in 2015, SSL formed a partnership with the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention Center and Visitors Bureau with the goal to create the largest empowerment and leadership conference in the world. Planning is already on its way for the 5th annual conference to be held at the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention Center on September 9th-10th. The theme for this year’s 999 women conference,” The SASSY Revolution” is calling for all SASSY (smart, assertive, strategic, selfless and young-at-heart) women to come together to push for positive change within their own lives and the lives of other women. This is the first year that it will be a 2-day conference.
As if running 4 successful companies isn’t enough, Dr. King also authored a book that shares her story titled “Dr. King’s Simple Guide to Holistic Health: Lessons Learned from My Personal Journey”. It’s the book she wished she had when she was bedridden. Dr. King also hosted her own radio show for over 5 years “The Dr. Elizabeth King Show” (formerly known as The Dr. King’s Health Fusion Hour). It was another vehicle for Dr. King to spread her message of hope. Right now the show is on hiatus due Dr. King’s extensive travel schedule.
As a speaker, Dr. King captivates her audiences. Her personal stories, combined with her knowledge, always leave her audiences motivated, empowered and inspired. She has delivered countless presentations and keynote speeches to companies and government agencies such as American Express, the Dominican Medical Association, and Charlotte County. Audiences connect immediately with her, not only because of her extensive clinical and leadership background, but because she speaks from the heart and conveys her infectious passion.
Dr. King has been honored for her work in the community with the following awards and nominations: Hispanic Woman Distinction, 100 Outstanding Women of Broward County, PR Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Women Business Owner (NAWBO) Bravo Award Finalist.
Dr. King holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership and a Master of Social Work degree. She has completed hundreds of hours of postgraduate courses in mental health, leadership, education and holistic therapies. In her clinical practice she specializes in PTSD, depression and anxiety.
On a personal note, Dr. King loves God, her family and friends, dancing, traveling, lipstick, stilettos (even though she can’t wear them) and the color red. Her greatest desire is simply to make a difference. Her favorite quote and one that she lives by everyday is “Be the change you wish to see in the world” Ghandi
