Dr. Elizabeth King is an internationally recognized mindset and business strategist, wellness expert, holistic psychotherapist, hypnotherapist, radio-TV personality, motivational speaker, professor, author, and philanthropist. She is regarded by her peers as a leader and a visionary.
Dr. King is the Founder and Chief Inspiration Officer(CIO) of Suits, Stilettos and Lipstick, the Lipstick Foundation, and International Holistic Center. The Lipstick Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower women and children through education and charitable giving, is the charitable arm of Suits, Stilettos and Lipstick. Dr. King believes that you must give back to make a difference.
Dr. King’s professional background includes over 20 years as an educator, family counselor, social worker and administrator with the Broward County Public Schools. Within her tenure in the school system she touched thousands of children’s lives. Dr. King passionately advocated for quality education and programs for at-risk students in Tallahassee and Washington DC; She fought for funding for dropout prevention programs; She championed school-wide initiatives that addressed diversity and inclusion.
In 2007, Dr. King opened up the International Holistic Center because holistic therapies helped her to get back on her feet after being bedridden for 2 years. She was determined to share her knowledge to help others. Dr. King comes to holistic health and psychotherapy from a place of knowledge, understanding and compassion and brings these critical qualifications to her life’s work. She contracted polio in the Dominican Republic, her native country, at the age of 3 and since that young age has undergone 36 surgeries and many extensive periods of recovery. Despite these potential setbacks, she has never let anything stop her from achieving her professional or personal goals or from slowing her down in her mission to make positive change in the world that she lives in.
In 2012, Dr. King launched Suits, Stilettos and Lipstick® (SSL) because she saw in her clinical practice so many professional women suffering from stress related illnesses stemming from lack of work-life balance. She wanted to create a women’s conference that would offer women the tools to build their psycho-emotional and spiritual self as well as their businesses and careers. She knew that to be able to reach women at a deeper level the conference had to be educational, inspirational and practical. Dr. King accomplished that and more. To her delight, the doors opened up at the Ritz Carlton Fort Lauderdale for the first conference with over 250 women, and grew to over 1,000 women attendees in 5 years.
What started off as just a dream to create a women’s conference has rapidly become a global women’s movement. Suits, Stilettos and Lipstick is now one of the fastest growing women’s empowerment and leadership organization.
Dr. King also authored a book that shares her story titled “Dr. King’s Simple Guide to Holistic Health: Lessons Learned from My Personal Journey”. It’s the book she wished she had when she was bedridden. International author and medical expert, Dr. Bernie Siegel writes “This book is
exactly what the title states. I credit Dr. King for being able to explain a complex topic in simple terms. If you or your family have not been adequately prepared to cope with an illness, and the medical world has not provided you with the answers that you need, then read on and prepare yourself with the wisdom contained in her book. She has lived and experienced it firsthand”.
Dr. King also hosted her own radio show for over 5 years “The Dr. Elizabeth King Show” (formerly known as The Dr. King’s Health Fusion Hour). It was another vehicle for Dr. King to spread her message of hope. Right now the show is on hiatus due Dr. King’s extensive travel schedule.
As a speaker, Dr. King captivates her audiences. Her personal stories, combined with her knowledge, always leave her audiences motivated, empowered and inspired. She has delivered countless presentations and keynote speeches to companies and government agencies such as American Express, the Dominican Medical Association, and Charlotte County. Audiences connect immediately with her, not only because of her extensive clinical and leadership background, but because she speaks from the heart and conveys her infectious passion.
As if this isn’t enough, Dr. King dedicates countless hours volunteering and fundraising for her pet charities. For over 20 years, Dr. King has spearheaded a toy drive and fundraiser with her husband for “Big Mama” Team of Life to benefit underprivileged children in their local community. In 2013, she founded the Lipstick Foundation and since then the foundation has collected and distributed over 25,000 toys and has raised close to $100,000 to benefit United Way-Mission United, Pace Center for Girls. Team of Life, Women in Distress and Catch 84. The Lipstick Foundation has also provided 50 scholarships for women in the military and over 300 scholarships for women going through transition to attend the annual empowerment and leadership conference.
