Darlene Wooldridge

Physical Therapist, Owner & Founder – Back to Health

Darlene founded Back to Health, a physical therapy and wellness studio, serving the Fort Lauderdale area since 2004. Her passion for helping, healing and making lives better through quality health, wellness and movement can be experienced by the elite services provided at Back to Health including orthopedic physical therapy, yoga, personal training and barre classes. Twelve staff member are ready to help any and all at Back To Health, a modern facility with specialty equipment such as Medex strengthening machines and the Power Plate. Darlene’s philosophy is centered on education and maintaining daily healing habits to provide lifetime mobility and comfort.

Prior to founding Back to Health in Fort Lauderdale, Darlene worked as Director of Physical Therapy at Hollywood Medical Center, Florida, Sports Physical Therapist at the Doral Park Avenue, New York, and Assistant Chief Physical Therapist at Beth Israel Medical Center, New York.

Additionally, Darlene has led safety meetings at Florida Power and Light, ensuring workers learn exercise techniques on the job, aimed towards injury and loss prevention. She was a speaker for the CITRIX health fair in 2013, speaking on posture and wellness in the workplace. Darlene presently serves as a consultant to SI Bone, a surgical company since 2015. She provides education to doctors, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and physical therapists throughout the state of Florida.

She is a member of the prestigious Executives’ Association of Fort Lauderdale, American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), StrikeForce 421 Giving Circle, and Taylor’s closet. Her passion for helping others is also evident in the various community projects she is involved in including anti-human trafficking efforts with The Freedom Challenge, MS Walks, Duck Derby and Kids in Distress, to name a few.

Born and raised in a large family with 5 biological siblings and over 40 foster siblings in New York, Darlene received her degree in physical therapy from New York University in 1982 where she later taught as a lab instructor. Shortly after, her adventurous spirit brought her to Australia where she lived on a sailboat, cruising the Great Barrier Reef for over 3 years. While residing in Australia, Darlene earned her Board Certification in Physiotherapy. In addition to wellness, her passions include sailing, running, golfing and hiking.
