Alexia McLeod, CEO and founder of Therapeutic Center for Hope is a passionate, dedicated psychotherapist and motivational speaker. Alexia also serves at the supervisory level at Christ Fellowship International inspiring, coaching, leading and teaching the counseling as well as other staff. She is regarded by her peers as a true leader who remains passionate the field and dedicated to her clients.
Alexia was born in Edmonton, Canada. In her formative years her family migrated to Jamaica where she immersed herself in the culture. It was there that the importance of the extended family and kinship connection showed its apparent significance in the world around her. She speaks of a work ethic, life balance and importance of education in a place where financial and social stability was not constant. Alexia moved to South Florida and completed high School at South Plantation High where she excelled academically. She attained her both her Bachelor’s degree and an Advanced Standing Clinical Master’s Degree in Social Work at Florida State University by the tender age of 21.
Alexia has Extensive experience in the field of adoption therapy, postpartum counseling, divorce therapy, marriage and family counseling, therapy with those adjusting to chronic medical diagnosis, grief therapies and abuse counseling. Her professional career began working with both children and adult in a family preservation program as an in-home therapist. Here, she assisted both children and families in identifying the root issues that were affecting their family’s positive function and worked with them to devise and implement appropriate skills to accomplish those goals. Alexia has an extensive career in working in the medical community. She has over 10 years experience working in chronic care hospitals on critical care units for adults, children and neonates. She also worked with women through pregnancy to delivery in the antipartum and postpartum units. She served on the Ethics Committee for West Boca Medical Center form 2005- 2014 where she advocated for patient’s rights to voice their desires to the medical board.
Alexia’s motto “Live Life Better Today” are much more than words to her. Her company, Therapeutic Center for Hope was founded on the belief that restoration is possible. If life is not the way you desire it to be, let’s find a way to change it! Your best You is waiting!
Alexia is a member of the Florida Adoption Council and provides home studies for families who desire to expand their families through adoption. She also provides counseling to birth parents seeking to place their child for adoption in order to assist to develop goals and coping strategies for during and after pregnancy. It is Alexia’s goal is to make the adoption process a positive and memorable experience of new beginning for both the pending adoptive parents and the birth mother.
Alexia has been the keynote speaker at Christ Fellowship International, Berean school, and Cambridge School. She has also presented trainings at Hannah’s house. She is passionate about children and family issues.
