Ramola Motwani, Chairwoman and CEO of Merrimac Ventures, a real estate management, investment and development company with interests throughout the U.S. and India.

Owner of several hotels in Fort Lauderdale Beach since 1986, and also the owner of the Quality Inns located on Sunrise Blvd, which is a full service hotel with a banquet and conference rooms.

Mrs. Motwani is very active in the Fort Lauderdale community and has been a major influence in the development and redevelopment of the beach. Ramola was instrumental in the project of the wave-wall fiber optic lights in Fort Lauderdale Beach, and spearheaded the annual Holiday Lights display. Together with her son Dev, brought the Lauderdale Air Show back to Fort Lauderdale Beach in 2012, attracting over 500,000 attendees and garnering national attention for the city of Fort Lauderdale and Broward County.

She established the Lodging Management Program in Broward County, such programs offers alternatives to increase the quality and employability of today’s high school graduates by introducing them to careers in foodservice and lodging. The program is a collaboration between Broward County Schools and the local hospitality industry.

Ramola initiated the Business Improvement District in Fort Lauderdale Beach. Currently, she is serving on the following Boards:

Her civic-minded affiliations include being a supporter with the Citizens Volunteer Corps, Scleroderma Foundation, United Way of Broward, and Jeb Bush Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Trustee of the South Florida Hindu Temple, Board Member of the Seven Isles Homeowners Association, Treasurer of the Global Sindhi Foundation, and Vice President of Alliance of the Global Sindhi Associations, Inc.

In the past, she has served as a Commissioner for the Florida Commission on Status of Women, Vice Chair of the Beach Redevelopment Advisory Board to the City of Fort Lauderdale, Vice Chair for the Business Improvement District to Fort Lauderdale Beach, Vice President of the Hindu US Chamber of Commerce and President of Sindhi Association of South Florida.

She was honored with the Chamber Women’s Circle of Excellence Award for Hospitality from the Women’s Council, the Salute to Business Award given by the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce, and she was named Woman of Distinction by the Charitable Organization “March of Dimes.”

Ramola was born and raised in India where she received first her Bachelor of Arts in Economics degree from Jai Hind College, and later the Law degree from the Government Law College.
